HAIR NEEDS WATER
(And So Do Hangovers!)

I'm sure I can't be the only one who's alcohol consumption mighta kinda increased over the holiday season. For me it seemed to carry on right into the first weekend of January, when I was busy catching up with old and new friends.
Friday was dinner and drinks in Camden with @SugarKinesis & the @UKnaturals.

Then from north London to East the following night, when I headed to Hackney for a dinner party before a spot of clubbin'.

It was all fun, but by Sunday I was in need of serious rest and recovery!

So if, like me you've have finally put down the Jack Daniels,  and are ready to get back to business, and that includes looking after my hair, I figured now would be a good time to look at how my standard glass of "recovery juice" (i.e water) could be beneficial to both my hair and my hangover.

WHY DRINK WATER FOR HEALTHY HAIR GROWTH?
  • Just like skin, hair needs moisture from both inside and out. Just as wrinkles or flaking can be a consequence of dry skin, breakage can be a consequence of dry hair.

  • Most sources agree that over 60% of the human body consists water.

  • About 2/3 of the water in our body is kept inside of cells, while the other third is in our blood and other fluids.1

  • The average strand of hair is approximately 25% water.

  • The cells responsible for hair growth need to be supplied with a sufficient amount of water to enable optimum hair growth.

  • Blood is like the public transport system that nutrients use to get to the parts of the body  that need them. Drinking water helps vitamins to enter the blood stream at a more rapid rate, these can then be used by the cells responsible for hair growth.

  • Water also helps rid the body of toxins, leaving a healthier environment for hair cells to thrive.

  • According to hairboutique.com "when hair has the proper amount of water, it will respond by being supple, and shiny."

  • Most sources suggest drinking at least 8 cups/ 2 Litres of water everyday, but this will vary from person to person.

Hope that helps for those of you who are trying to drink more water this year!
