WIGS AT WORK
I feel like I've been in hiding for the last part of Winter but I actually began a new job working on an Opera, and all the Pre-Opening preparation has been A LOT of round the clock work. The show is now open so my schedule has calmed down.
Interestingly enough the Opera I'm working on this year is Aida, and its basically about an enslaved Ethiopian princess and an Egyptian Soldier who are in love despite their respective nations being at war with each other. (Like Romeo and Juliet but in the ancient African deserts.)
Needless to say I was desperate to see what the Hair & Make-Up Department had planned. I was speaking to some of the ladies from hair and make-up and it turns out they got a lot of their supplies for the show from PAKs.
I'm hoping to spend some more time with the ladies from hair and make-up and find out what research went into selecting the different styles of wigs for the show which vary from short afro's to long jheri-curl-like wigs, as well as chunky plaits and dreadlocks.
I had a bit of fun trying a few of the wigs on....what do you think?
(My boyfriend LOVED the wig with the locs.)
The Chunky Plaits
Because of the crazy schedule I wont be able to attend any of the naturalhair meet-ups or events until after the 11th of March, but I cant wait to see everyone again soon, it feels like I've missed so much stuff.
If you're going to any of the events happening this weekend have fun and let us know how they went by posting up on the Crystal Afro Facebook Wall.
